Mr. McMullen joined Detour Gold in May 2019 as Chief Executive Officer and Director.

Mick has more than 25 years of international experience in the mining industry with an accomplished background in all aspects of the mining business, including exploration, permitting, mine development, financing, operations, product sales, and asset acquisition and divestments as well as the debt and equity markets. He has managed multiple operations (open pit and underground mines) across most jurisdictions. His experience covers a range of commodities, including copper, gold, iron ore and PGMs.

Prior to joining Detour Gold, Mick was Senior Advisor to Black Mountain LLC, a private equity company engaged in identifying and capturing high-growth opportunities within the natural resources space and active in Australia and the USA.

He was Chief Executive Officer and a Director of platinum and palladium (“PGM”) producer Stillwater Mining Company prior to its acquisition by Sibanye Gold Limited for an equity value of US$2.2 billion. During his tenure, the Company achieved its best safety performance on record, reduced all-in sustaining costs per PGM ounce by approximately one third, expanded its PGM recycling business to be the largest in the world and added approximately US$1.1 billion in equity value against a backdrop of a 10% fall in PGM prices.

Before joining Stillwater, Mick served as a Principal at MRI Advisory AG, a private company focusing on the development of metal and minerals projects in the Americas, Europe and Africa. He was responsible for managing the mining investments of the Principals and supervising the technical due diligence for a variety of commodity-backed funding structures. Associated with various MRI Advisory transactions, he held the following executive roles: President and Chief Executive Officer of New Chris Minerals (the predecessor of GT Gold); Executive Chairman of Lachlan Star; Managing Director of Northern Iron and President of Northern Iron Marketing AG.

Mick holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology from Newcastle University in New South Wales and pursued graduate studies in Mineral Economics at the Western Australian School of Mines.


Mr. Bourchier joined Detour Gold in 2018 as Chief Operating Officer.

Frazer is a mining engineer with more than 28 years of international experience in the mining industry, including exposure and extensive operational expertise managing open pit and underground mines, corporate development, and corporate social responsibility. A motivating leader with a participative and people-oriented leadership style, he has assessed and managed operations around the world by identifying their ability to drive value and ensuring execution of operational plans to ensure their feasibility.

Prior to joining Detour Gold, Frazer was the Chief Operating Officer of Nevsun Resources for six years where he provided operational and strategic leadership including both the successful development of the copper and zinc expansion project at the Bisha open pit mine and the accretive corporate acquisition and integration of the world-class Timok project in Serbia.

Prior executive roles included Vice President Business Development and Technical Services of Silver Wheaton (now Wheaton Precious Metals), Vice President Operations and Business Development at Intrepid Mines. For nearly sixteen years within Placer Dome (subsequently Barrick Gold), he held increasingly more senior roles including operational leadership positions at Red Lake Mine, Executive Assistant to the President and CEO, and Manager of the Misima and Porgera open pit gold mines.

Frazer holds both a Bachelor of Science and Masters in Applied Science and Engineering from the University of Toronto and is a licensed Professional Engineer.


Ms. Barrowcliffe joined Detour Gold in 2018 as Vice President Human Resources.

Kelly is a seasoned executive with more than 20 years of human resources experience in increasingly senior roles and leadership functions across a broad industrial network. Kelly is skilled in strategic organizational planning with specializations in process improvement and organizational development. She has led enterprise-wide transformational change projects (succession, performance, talent management, total rewards, engagement) and has played key roles in cultural change.

Prior to joining Detour Gold, Kelly served as the Vice President, Corporate Services and Human Resources Transformation for Stelco. She also spent several years with Sherritt International Corporation during which time her roles included Director, Organizational Development; Director, Strategic Projects (HR) for the Ambatovy project in Madagascar and Chief Internal Auditor. Kelly grew her early career working through progressive management roles across various industries. Her first position was with ek3, a high-tech company she helped build through the start-up phase. Kelly also spent two and half years at Magna Closures.

Kelly obtained her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Waterloo and two Masters degrees from the University of Western Ontario.


Mr. DeLuca joined Detour Gold in March 2019 as General Counsel and Corporate Secretary.

Carl is a results-driven legal executive with more than 15 years of experience in the mining industry. He manages the Company’s legal matters and supports the Board of Directors on corporate governance and compliance matters.

Prior to joining Detour Gold, Carl served as Head of Legal, Corporate & Assistant Secretary and Head of Legal, North America & UK Operations for Vale S.A.’s global Base Metals business, where he led numerous business-critical transactions, including complex M&A, corporate finance and capital projects, on a global basis. He has also served as corporate counsel for Inco Limited, supporting operations in North America, Asia and Europe. Carl started his career at Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP, where he practiced corporate and securities law in Toronto and New York.

Carl holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) from the Ivey School of Business Administration at Western University and an LL.B. from the University of Windsor.


Mr. Ekmark joined Detour Gold in 2018 as Vice President and Mine General Manager.

Dale brings more than 22 years of domestic and international experience in the mining industry. He has spent over two-thirds of his career working in large open pit operations, in both operational and corporate leadership capacities. He is a highly successful leader who brings to Detour Gold a combination of strong technical expertise, focus on employee-centric mine safety and operational optimization, and extensive site management. A common theme throughout his career has been the strong and lasting culture transition to a highly engaged workforce resulting in top-tier safety and operational results.

Prior to joining Detour Gold, Dale served as CEO and Chairman of OKD in the Czech Republic where he oversaw the operation of four coal mines with over 12,000 employees. Prior to OKD, Dale served as the Founder and Principal of EMMORA, a risk-based management consulting firm providing services to heavy industry with an emphasis on mining; and as COO of AMG Mining of the Advanced Metallurgical Group, a global critical materials company producing highly engineered specialty metals and mineral products. Additionally, Dale has held numerous management roles with NORAMCO Engineering Corp., Placer Dome Inc., Cleveland-Cliffs Inc., and The De Beers Group of Companies. At De Beers, Dale served as General Manager of the Jwaneng diamond mine in Africa (a ~360,000 tonne per day operation).

Dale holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering from University of Minnesota, a Master’s degree in Engineering Management from the University of Alaska and completed post graduate studies in Systems Science/Business Administration from Portland State University.


Ms. Gaborit joined Detour Gold in late 2006 as Director Investor Relations and was appointed Vice President Investor Relations in 2017.

Laurie has more than 20 years of investor relations and corporate communications in the mining industry. She brings extensive capital markets experience with successful development and implementation of effective strategic investor relations and communication programs. She has played a key role in raising the profile of junior and intermediate mining companies with the analyst and investment communities.

Prior to joining Detour Gold, Laurie provided strategic investor relations and corporate communications services for a number of junior mining companies. Prior roles included Vice President Investor Relations and Corporate Secretary for High River Gold Mines and Manager Investor Relations for Rio Narcea Gold Mines. Laurie started her career as a geologist in the mineral exploration for Aur Resources, Cambior, and Romarco Minerals.

Laurie holds a Bachelor of Science in Geology (Hons.) and is on the National Board of the Canadian Investor Relations Institute.


Mr. Schmelzer joined Detour Gold in 2016 as Director Information Technology and was appointed Vice President Technology in 2018.

Dan is an Information Technology professional with more than 25 years of experience in managing operations, application development and support. Since joining Detour Gold, Dan has led the IT function providing leadership for the continued development of an innovative, robust and secure information technology environment for Detour Gold’s operations.

Holding progressive leadership positions within IT in the natural resources sector, Dan has created IT infrastructure and software applications for mining companies and oil and gas corporations including Vale (Inco), Enbridge and ShawCor.

Dan holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and an MBA from the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management.


Mr. Wallin joined Detour Gold in 2015 as Vice President Environment and Sustainability.

Ruben is an environmental engineer with more than 25 years of experience in the global mining industry. During his career, Ruben has led long-term strategic sustainability for multiple natural resource companies. By anticipating and managing external risks, Ruben builds leading sustainability policies and practices and proactively engages with multiple stakeholders including external partners, government organizations and indigenous communities.

Prior to joining Detour Gold, Ruben held the position of Vice President Environment and Sustainable Development for Osisko Mining. He held Director level positions with Yamana Gold, Barrick Gold and IAMGOLD. He also worked at DeBeers Canada, Cambior and Placer Dome. He started his career at Placer Dome where he was responsible for managing environmental issues at the former Detour Lake mine in the early 1990s.

Ruben holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and a Masters in Geological Engineering from the University of British Columbia.
