Detour Gold Corporation (TSX: DGC) ("Detour Gold" or
the "Company") is pleased to report assay results for an additional 46
holes totaling 19,810 metres (including 8 holes abandoned for 1,425
metres) from its 2008 infill diamond drilling program at the Detour Lake
project in northern Ontario. Assay results from the deepening of 16
holes (drilled in 2007) totaling 2,928 metres are also reported below.
Approximately 3,700 metres of the 231,104 metres (621 holes) drilled in
the 2007-08 programs remain to be released.
Today's results continue to show good continuity of the main mineralized
zones and confirmation of additional gold mineralization within the
US$700 pit shell (mineral resource reported in Press Release July 2,
2008), which should positively impact the final pit design, including
the reduction of the waste to ore ratio, for the pre-feasibility study
expected before the end of the second quarter of 2009.
Results from 12 holes (including one hole abandoned) and the deepening
of four holes infilling the centre of the deposit (from 18,600E to
19,250E, referred to as the Gap Zone) encountered gold mineralization in
the core of the mineralized corridor especially at the contacts between
the massive and pillow flows. The best intercepts included hole
DG-08-529 which intersected 1.10 g/t over 58.0 metres and 2.12 g/t
(uncut) or 1.78 g/t (cut) over 69.0 metres and hole DG-08-546 which
intersected near surface 2.63 g/t (uncut) or 2.02 g/t (cut) over 36.0
metres. Both these holes have confirmed continuity of the main
mineralized gold zones.
In the area of the former open pit (West Pit area), results from an
additional 27 drill holes (including six holes abandoned) and extension
of two holes between sections 19,320E and 20,120E confirmed continuity
of the main hanging wall mineralized zones that are within 200 metres of
the CMH. A wide intersection of gold mineralization was encountered in
hole DG-08-534 with 1.69 g/t (uncut) or 1.22 (cut) over 64.0 metres.
Hole DG-08-513 intersected 3.44 g/t (uncut) or 1.80 g/t (cut) over 39.0
metres just below the former pit on section 20,000E.
In the area of the Calcite Zone, 10 holes drilled in 2007 were deepened
to mainly test the lower massive flow unit and Chert Marker Horizon
(CMH). Another seven holes (including one abandoned) tested up to 500
metres in the hanging wall of the CMH. Results continued to show the
continuity of the CMH and good mineralization at the contacts between
massive and pillow flows. Hole DG-08-540 intersected 2.78 g/t (uncut) or
1.46 g/t (cut) over 36.0 metres at the contact of massive flows and
CMH. Hole DG-08-551 intersected 2.66 g/t (uncut) or 1.75 g/t (cut) over
28.2 metres in a series of quartz veins with abundant visible gold in
massive flows.
Significant mineralized (uncut) intervals encountered are shown below.

Complete tables of results, surface and longitudinal plans and
cross-sections for the Detour Lake deposit are posted on the Company's
website www.detourgold.com /Projects/Detour Lake or http://www.detourgold.com
or on the home page "Explore Detour Lake".
The 2009 drilling program of 50,000 metres is well underway with
approximately 25,700 metres completed as of April 20. The objectives of
the 2009 program are to complete the infill program on a 40 metre by 40
metre spacing up to section 18,400E (Calcite Zone area) and to test the
near surface footwall mineralization in the area of the former open pit
over a strike length of one kilometre (i.e. DGC-07-194A with 6.20 g/t
over 15m (capped to 20 g/t)).
Detour Gold's delineation program is being managed by Project Manager,
Mr. Roger Aubertin, P.Eng., a Qualified Person within the meaning of
National Instrument 43-101. Mr. Aubertin has verified and approved the
data disclosed in this release, including the sampling, analytical and
test data underlying the information. Samples are now prepared at SGS
Minerals Services in Sudbury and assayed in their laboratory at Don
Mills, Ontario, Canada. Analysis for gold is done on sawn half core
samples using fire assay (AA finish). Samples with higher grade gold
(>5 g/t) are re-assayed using the pulp and metallics procedures.
Standard reference materials, blank and field duplicate samples are
inserted prior to shipment from site to monitor the quality control of
the assay data. For additional information on Quality Assurance and
Quality Control ("QA/QC"), refer to the press release dated April 11,
2007.

Forward-Looking Information
This press release contains certain forward-looking information as
defined in applicable securities laws (referred to herein as
"forward-looking statements"). Specifically, this press release
contains forward-looking statements regarding: Detour Gold's intent to
advance the Detour Lake Project towards the development stage, including
the timing for completion of a pre-feasibility study and a feasibility
study on the Detour Lake gold project and the impact of the results on
the final pit design for the pre-feasibility study. Forward-looking
statements involve known and unknown risks, uncertainties and other
factors which are beyond Detour Gold's ability to predict or control and
may cause Detour Gold's actual results, performance or achievements to
be materially different from any of its future results, performance or
achievements expressed or implied by forward-looking statements. These
risks, uncertainties and other factors include, but are not limited to,
gold price volatility, changes in debt and equity markets, the
uncertainties involved in interpreting geological data, increases in
costs, environmental compliance and changes in environmental legislation
and regulation, interest rate and exchange rate fluctuations, general
economic conditions and other risks involved in the gold exploration and
development industry, as well as those risk factors discussed in the
section entitled "Description of Business - Risk Factors" in Detour
Gold's 2008 annual information form. Such forward-looking statements are
also based on a number of assumptions which may prove to be incorrect,
including, but not limited to, assumptions about the following: the
availability of financing for exploration and development activities;
the estimated timeline for the development of the Detour Lake Project;
the supply and demand for, and the level and volatility of the price of,
gold; the accuracy of resource estimates and the assumptions on which
the resource estimates are based; market competition; ongoing relations
with employees and local communities; and general business and economic
conditions. Accordingly, readers should not place undue reliance on
forward-looking statements. Detour Gold undertakes no obligation to
update publicly or otherwise revise any forward-looking statements
contained herein whether as a result of new information or future events
or otherwise, except as may be required by law.
