Developing Detour Lake - Gold Reserve of 15.6 M oz in Canada
Detour Gold Corporation (TSX:DGC) is a Canadian gold exploration and development company with a highly experienced management and technical team whose primary focus is to advance the development of its flagship Detour Lake gold project, located in northeastern Ontario, towards production.
Following the acquisition of the Detour Lake property in mid-2006 and IPO in January 2007, Detour Gold has completed over 500,000 metres of drilling in the area of the former Detour Lake mine and has now defined a world-class gold deposit with a current mineral reserve of 15.6 million ounces using a gold price of US$850/oz. The mineral resources are still expected to grow through ongoing drilling to the west of the deposit.
Having received the necessary approvals from both the federal and provincial governments and concluded Aboriginal agreements, the Company is currently proceeding with the construction of the mine facilities. As a future significant gold producer, the Detour Lake mine is expected to produce an average of 650,000 ounces of gold annually over a mine life of 20+ years (55,000 to 61,000 tpd milling rate). The Company is currently evaluating alternative options to potentially expand the processing plant facilities one the operations has reached commercial production. With gold production expected to commence in early 2013, Detour Lake will be among the largest gold operations in North America.
